Love it
Cute, comfortable, casual, and healing. My mama used to say that my sister and I are "fifth generation of leather feet." Translation: on both sides of my family, we walk barefoot as often as possible. I'm hooked on barefoot shoes and, as barefoot shoes go, I'm sticking with Peluva. I hope they roll out more creative designs and fun, colorful, no-show socks! Thanks, Peluva.
As someone constantly working to improve my foot health and repair healthy function after too many years of athletics stuck in narrow, poorly shapes shoes, I'm so delighted that Peluva has arrived on the scene. I caught wind of the intiative when Mark was interviewed on a podcast over a year ago. At the time I was about to try Vibram FiveFingers because I was growing certain that toe spacers were needed to re-align my toes (which suffer from moderate hammer and curling) and yet all the toe spacers I tried either would hurt, fall out, or poorly fit. Whether sleeping with toe spacers or trying to fit them in shoes, they just are never going to be as effective as shoes like peluvas for people that are serious about foot recovery. This makes sense because its movement that heals and mobilizes, slowly and over time. Wearing toe spacers for most of your walking hours is just not practical.
So, now to Peluvas: for a first pass at this problem they are exceptional. Toes are flexible enough. Once you learn how to get them on, they are easier to get on that toe socks (I really struggle to have patience with toe socks). Right off my 3rd and 4th metatarsals on my foot with the worse hammer toes started aching. To me this was an awesome sign that the peluvas hold a promise of healing. Pain as a signal of positive change!
Here are the things I'm less excited about:
- My feet get cold in them, especially toes. This is probably because I live in a house with cold wood floors, its winter in Washington State, and the corrective positions of my toes in the peluvas are aggressive enough (what I want) that the arterial flow is slightly comprised (and will be for some time until my feet re-align). So, this is probably the right outcome, but something folks should be aware of that want to wear these in northern climates in the winter (even inside) and don't have great circulation. What currently works wildly better for me is the Wildling Chestnut with an Oboz O-fit insole, since they are warm and cushioned. I figure once the spring warmth comes I'll be able to wear the peluvas more.
- The upper material is fine, seems soft and pliable enough for the job. But it does not feel very high quality, so I worry it will not hold up well with wear over time. Also, the seams around the toes do not lay as flat as I'd hope. I don't feel, in my toes, this being a problem, just wanted to share this from an aesthetic point of view.
- Toe length: everyone's toes are different lengths, so peluva as a product has a very hard, borderline impossible, problem of coming up with toe lengths that work for most people. For me it's not quite good enough: my big toe is snatched into the front while all my little toes are barely able to stay in the toes of the shoe when I take a step that bends my toes. To a certain extent this is because my little toes are hammered and my arches are not as strong as they could be. So the discomfort and acwardness of this I hope will help give a neurological stimulus to engage my arch (to take pressure off my big toe against the front of the shoe) and splay my toes (to help them stay in the toes of the shoe). But that dreamy future comes true I find myself wishing that peluva could somehow offer a shoe a little closer to my foot shape in order for me to be a little closer, out of the gates, to something that works. When I've used them for light training I've been able to keep my little toes inserted. But I'd really like to try running in them, and that is when I think the little toes would likely retract and then get mis-aligned in the shoe (effectively jamming them until I could stop and adjust to re-insert the toe).
Perfect shoes for better traction and closer to the earth!

Wonderful Transformation!
It was a little tricky getting each individual toes into the slots but once I got the hang of it, the way I work (as a massage therapist) changed for the better!
I usually have to take off my regular shoes when working because they feel bulky as I move around the table and make squeaky noises.
But with this unique pair it's like walking barefoot with better traction; I have more friction on the ground without my feet sliding out of place!
I would buy another pair for working out if they offer more colors and go on sale 👍
I love the color, style, and fit. These have become my preferred house shoe. What’s missing? This shoe needs a small tab to hold onto at the back of the ankle to assist with pulling on the shoe. The suede material is quite soft and folds over easily making it difficult to slip these shoes on over the heel. I have no problem getting my toes into position. I spend what feels like several unnecessary seconds trying to keep a finger in back like a shoe horn to prevent the material bouncing up which makes it a struggle to pull on. I had anticipated having a shoe that I could slip into more easily. The sneaker version has the raised tab on the back. Maybe I just need to buy an old fashioned shoe horn.
I bought these for my son who follows some YouTuber who wears these. My son doesn't have long, skinny toes. His toes don't reach the end of the "designated toe section", so they don't fit. The toe length is the same for everyone, so this shoe doesn't work for us.
Have been a marathoner and spartan racer for over a decade. Went to Vibram five fingers and embraced barefoot running back when Born To Run came out. Went back to Saucony for a bit and then to the zero drop Altras. Love the Altra tremendously , but these are by far my new favorite. Kind of a blend of five finger and Altra. Like Goldilocks and the bears…just right!
I loved the feel and the way the shoe fit and I could wear socks with them.
I have worn Vibrams in the past but I like the bottom of the Peluva better it has a bit more cushion so my feet don't get tried.
Love this shoe, I did go up 1/2 size and at first thought they might still be too small in the toes but as I wore them they were fine, I do plan to buy another pair.
My slightly feral 14 yr old son loves them. We shall see if they hold up well to the abuse he will inevitably put them through before giving a solid review. We live on a farm, and my son is VERY active outdoors. If the shoes make it 6 months I'll be impressed. He put them on as soon as he unwrapped them Christmas morning and has worn them every time he goes out side since, which is weird for him, he usually runs around barefoot unless its icy out, or make him put shoes one.
Overall, loving it. The “partly me” part tu can fix by properly manufacturing the shoes to fit the sizes they state rather than asking that we order the larger size. The correct size has no room in the big toe and significantly more space than toe in the space in the other toes. Take some of that extra out and put it in the big toe and my 10.5 are actually a proper fitting 10.5.

When They Tell You to Order a Half Size Above Do It
Love the shoes, but I definitely screwed up and got my “correct size” instead of the half size above. Did that with another company and it was too big, so I figured “why bother, here?” Definitely bother here.! Only complaint I have is that you make the smaller toes too big. My first toe hits the tip of the rubber fronts while the rest have at least as much space left over as they do toe filling the slot. I fear that ordering the half extra size would make for even more space than toe. So…just a suggestion…have your manufacturers make the shoe to properly fit the big toe, at the correct size, rather than tell us to order the larger shoe…which if I postulate correctly could also be a problem.
Or are you “saying” that extra half size is all in the first toe???? Anyway. Yeah. Next pair, I’ll be trying it to see, but I’m extremely apprehensive.
First ever pair of toe socks and definitely makes me want to only ever wear toe socks. Only “problem” I can think of is that my cart “said” I should get a free pair with my shoes, and only my two paid pairs arrived.
This has the same midsole as my other Peluva shoes, so they were easy to adjust to. I like the higher top to keep road stuff out of my shoe. I've not had a chance to use these on a real trail (too much snow this time of year) but I think they will be nice for walking on sand as long as it's dry sand!
I'm trying to wear my Peluva shoes every day, and I can feel my feet getting stronger, and my balance getting better. I'm becoming very attached to my Peluva's but my other shoes are feeling the lack of attention.
I'm hoping someday Peluva will have a nice option for trail hiking where there is mud or other non dry conditions. Clearly hiking on snow...even when dry...is not optimal, so I got a pair of zero drop hiking boots to test out.
Sometimes people see my "odd" shoes and the typical reaction is a smile and sometime a positive word about them.
At first I didn't quite like the different "feel" over my other Peluva shoes with the series 300 Midsole. But I adapted to them, and then found they were a little bit more comfortable on "rougher" asphalt. Although there is a difference between the 300 and 500 midsole, I'm happy with these, and it's nice to have options to wear!
