Just getting the Peluva strand atr has helped my feet feel better. All I did was slowly gradually wore my shoes longer over a period of time.
These are my 3rd pair of Peluvas and definitely the best yet. Fits perfectly out of the box, well built and the sole seems much better than the standard Strand's .
Wore them all day doing yard work, I have a big property. They held up well , walking on dirt and rocks and sticks produced no pain. The shoes were comfortable for all day wear I highly recommend them.
Can’t wait to wear them more! I’m a power plant operator so I can’t wear them at work , but I’m also a fishing guide and I can’t wait to wear them fishing!!!
I don't really care for the laces. But I am enjoying this shoe. The ATR seems to be tougher than the knit like material in the first pair I purchased. For me, I ordered my regular size, even with socks the fit is good. I wear the Injinji toe socks everyday for years now. I am about to start a senior softball league and plan to wear these while playing. If someone is new to this kind of shoe, gradually get used to it. It does change how your body moves. Good luck and Enjoy! BTW, you will get strange looks, but once you body gets used to it, you want mind the comments.
Love to find new ways to improve my health and fitness as I'm getting older. My wife and I each ordered a pair and love them. Living in Southwest Florida they're perfect for everything we do. Amazed how well they feel in the gym!! Telling all my fitness friends, buy these shoes!!
Product is good
All right...full disclosure: I am a flat footed monster. I was born with the kind of flat feet that doctors bring in interns and trainees to look at because they are so exceptionally flat. I have been living the barefoot shoe lifestyle for quite some time now. Some brands...my arches hurt and i can only wear for a bit...others are super comfortable and just amazing. Peluva? BETTER THAN MOST OF THE BAREFOOT BRANDS OUT THERE AND THE FIVE TOES ACTION MEANS BETTER BAREFOOT LIVING AND FOOT STRENGTHENING. Absolutely worth EVERT PENNY! That said....I STRUGGLED to get my toes separated....it takes practice folks....just slow down, take a deep breath, act like a velociraptor in Jurassic Park and just attack it from different angles and such and life will find a way. RE: Sizing - I ALWAYS do this when I order shoes...I look at the actual full measurements in inches/CM AND read the reviews. For whatever reasons there are contradictory messages on the Strand ATR's sizing information. On the page it says go up a half size but elsewhere when you click away it says one full size. In the reviews the consensus was one full size if you are doing socks. I am technically an 8.5 (my foot measures 26 cm without socks) but nearly every shoe size I HAVE to do a 9 because ... again, flat footed monster (if the shoe measures 27 cm I'm good to go). I ordered a ten and with or without socks....they are fine. Didn't feel the need to adjust either way. These kick ass....I feel like Jenny Garner in Alias or like a flaming gay Bear Grylls. GET YOU SOME PELUVAS AND TAKE ON THE WORLD!!!!!
As someone who has had multiple injuries, as well as generally bad joints, these Peluvas are beyond incredible!! I was recommended a pair of ultra padded Hokas with special insoles for arch support by a DPM because I got bad cramps, soreness and shin splints when running. Well the Hokas were good for the shin splints, but my feet generally still hurt when in use. I decided I wanted to try a more minimalist approach and try out these Peluvas (I'm more comfortable barefoot anyways) when I first got them I decided to go for a light walk/jog to break them in. They ended up being so comfortable and smooth with the jogging experience that I turned it into a run. I was beyond baffled at the fact that I didn't have pain whilst doing it! So I just kept running... an running.. Next thing I knew I decided to check my fitness app, to find I had ran 4.5 miles! I normally train for 2 miles and hadn't had the chance to run for months (due to a different injury), so without training and being out of shape these Peluvas were able to make the impossible... Possible! *Update* I tried them in Pickleball yesterday, and my goodness do I feel even more agile on the court! 10/10 would recommend to everyone!
Once broken in these are amazing shoes!
This is my first pair of toe shoes like this. At first it was a bit awkward to put them on and wear around. After about 2 weeks of breaking them in at the gym they have become my favorite shoes ever. After over a month of wearing them it's difficult to go back to normal shoes. I mostly wear them to the gym and daily activities. It's helped my balance and over all stability. My leg days at the gym are much more comfortable now. I'm also able to push more weight since my balance and foot stance has improved. I was basically walking on my pinky toes in regular shoes. Now that my toes can spread out properly they don't want to squeeze into regular shoes. I was surprised that my toes maintain their new found spacing even when barefoot! I'm very happy with my purchase. I barely even feel my peluvas when wearing them. It's very much like walking barefoot. I've never in my life been excited to wear shoes before. I've owned some cool shoes, but never any I was excited to actually put on and walk in lol. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because the spot between the toes where the top of the shoe meets the sole isn't very well attached. There are small gaps exposing the threading that allow grass and sticks to poke through. I thought it might just be my pair b I t we checked my brothers and his had the same gaps. Not a huge deal as I will avoid going off pavement/trail with them now that I know. It's just uncomfortable to walk off trail or through grass.
At 86 years old, I have some balance issues, and I have an unusually wide foot. I tried other "barefoot" shoes before Peluva. Most have zero cushioning. Peluva is the perfect blend of "barefoot" and cushioning. The Strand is my third pair. I bought them specifically for an extended trip that will involve many miles of walking. I walk two miles most days and never have any issues with my feet.
Great
In the first couple of months, these shoes really helped with my toe separation and flexibility—except for my left pinky. Yesterday, while detailing my car (including the low wheels), I noticed my pinky finally found its spot! I was so thrilled that now all my toes are flexing independently! I also tried wearing my old pair after getting my ATRs wet, but they felt so sluggish, big and clunky. I switched to my second pair of ATRs, and with a little help from a second shoehorn to aid guilding, all my toes settled in nicely. As someone who had bunion surgery, I can tell you—this is a big deal!
Changing the way I walk and my wellness, bravo to peluva!
Decided to explore barefoot options on a bit of a whim. Toe separators helped more than I thought and decided to go ahead and get my first pair. These feel… I dunno… “Right”? I was already passively barefoot besides work or the rare occasion I went out but these help to complete the “feels right” puzzle. Issues with my back have steadily began to get better as well as issues with my legs I didn't even realize I had are fixing or realigning themselves better. Very comfy albeit an adjustment; which is to be expected of course. I look forward to continuing this lifestyle improvement. I actually am eager, now, to take walks ^_^
I recently had the honor of interviewing Mark Sisson on my Life's Best Medicine Podcast and was intrigued when he mentioned Peluva shoes. I bought these and they are amazing. Multiple hikes and rucks with no foot or ankle pain. Now my Keen and Columbia hiking shoes are spending a lot of time in the closet! Thank you for such a great product. Born to Walk now.
I'll be honest, I still can't get on board with wearing this shoe in public. Yes, I'm shallow! But I decided to buy them because I could tell I was developing plantar fasciitis in my left foot and I was ready to finally address the root of the cause instead of buying another pair or inserts. I've only logged 40 miles in these shoes on my walking pad but I loved the feel of them immediately. It took me a while to get my 5 fingered socks on (bought third party) as well as the shoes. That pinky toe just refuses to slide in easily but I'm getting faster at it with each wear. I don't know if it's all in my head but my PF seems to be resolving but it's too early to tell. I'm happy I gave them a try and am hopeful that this is the start of my journey to strong and resilient feet!
Bare feet with protection seems to be a great motivator for me to exercise.
I recently bought my 4th pair of Peluvas, 3 Strands and this one new pair of ATR. What I love most about this pair is the more durable top side material. Still super comfortable. Quick background: 15 or more years ago I bought my first of about 10 pair of Vibrams 5-fingers, a great intro to the "barefoot" space but Vibrams don't have enough padding underneath to allow real comfort when walking over pebbles, rocks, etc., so I thought I'd give Peluvas a try. Have not looked back! They fit and feel so much better than any other shoe. They do bring a lot of comments, 90% positive. For me, there's nothing better. How many shoes have you owned where wearing them, even for hours (recently had a 20+ hour travel with three flights), is MORE comfortable than NOT wearing them? That's Peluva, and the ATR stay cleaner after trail walking, and seem built to hadnle the inevitable scruffs. I love all my Peluvas but thought i should write a review for these new ones just because they're new and some might be wondering about them. Wonder not; just buy and try!
I love these shoes. They are for the most part water resistant, but in between the toes not so much. I still love them and wear them everywhere.
feels like my feet
First time user of minimalist sneakers and I really like them. Plan on getting more in near future!
I ordered the Strand ATR in a men’s size because the teal shoe is beautiful but oddly unavailable in women’s sizes. If your second toe is your longest, order a full size larger than what the foot scanning app measures. The app apparently measures for a foot where the big toe is longest. The Strand ATR is very comfortable and is overall a beautiful shoe. The issue is with the quality control. The first one I ordered had defects with the stitching of several toes where there was black fabric between the toes instead of teal, and one toe had a large dimple in the top. When I returned it for a larger size, the replacement shoe had defects in both heel collars. Both heel collars were folded over and bent forward on the same side, causing it to uncomfortably dig into my ankles and leave a red mark after a few minutes of wear inside the house. After striking out twice with defects in the Strand ATR, I decided not to return it for a third try but to instead return it for a refund. However, I loved this shoe so much despite the quality control issues that I plan to try again next year when they are on sale again. Hopefully this fairly young brand will work out the quality control issues and my third pair of the Strand ATR won’t have any defects. I did keep my Zen Suede Slip-On, which is my favorite shoe I own. Due to the material and design, there is no heel collar issue and it is amazingly comfortable.
