I have had the original shoe for years and it is very comfortable. It is my gym shoe and I can wear it with our without socks. The laces, while long, allow me to get a nice snug fit on my feet. This ATR is much stiffer and wider. I bought it to be able to walk around my yard and on my dirt road and to use in place of my day hikers. I
have been breaking them in but they are very wide and bunch when I try and tighten too much. I have a thick pair of toe socks I've been using. I'm going to take them on vacation to the Bahamas with me and hope that they will soften up. I do wish you would make a narrow version!

My summer hiking shoes

I heard about Peluva from the PlantStrong podcast and could not wait to order. I have been wearing toe socks for over 10 years and minimalist shoes with a generous toe box but Peluva’s are a game changer. It’s like walking barefoot without getting your feet all beat up. I love how the more you wear them, the individual toe spaces mold to your toes, making them easy to just slide into. The Strand ATR was the perfect choice for me since I work on my feet all day. I had a size question after using the measuring tool and contacted customer service. Within minutes I had a reply and the size the representative suggested is perfect!
As a massage therapist for the past 32 years, I see the problems regular shoes cause. And I’m convinced the popular overly cushioned shoes are setting people up for a whole lot of hurt because their lower leg and foot muscles are going to just get weaker and weaker. We need to feel the ground we walk on, not feel marshmallows!
The Strand ATR was my first purchase, but it will definitely not be my last. I’m looking forward to trying other styles.

The most comfortable and best support shoe
I suffered from chronic feet and knee pain from 8 surgeries on my left knee, 6 surgeries on my left knee, multiple surgeries on both feet due to cancer. I had stage 4 non- Hodgkins Lymphoma that was also in the blood and bones. I have had 25 surgeries total which caused imbalances in my body. Basically I am a crooked house. The chemotherapy and radiation also caused lots of nerve damage. I have always been active and love the outdoors. I have tried many different kinds of shoes but still suffer lots of pain. I received my first pair and am in love!! The fit was perfect, which I was a lil concerned about. The site tells you to go a half size bigger, but the scanning app said it was a whole size bigger. I got the same results a few times. My feet have been hurting for about 9 months since I did a huge remodel in a very short period of time. I am a trigger point/injury management masseuse, use a red light and LENS neurofeedback (which you can use on your body for pain) to no avail... I can go to work and be on my feet now and not have my feet in pain. That alone is HUGE!!! However, I want to also share that they are sooooo comfortable. It's as if I'm walking around barefoot but with comfort!!

I LOVE my Peluvas. I didn’t realize how much pain my feet were in until putting my old shoes back on after my first week of wearing the Peluvas every day. Love. them. I have bunions on both my feet and these are a total game changer. However, I ordered the black and got the green. I did not want to deal with returning them, so I went with it. The green is cool-looking, but not the color I ordered. Hence the 3 rather than 5 star rating. An awesome shoe, though.

Exactly what I was looking for in a shoe!
These are great! Nice and wide, zero drop, no toe spring, and have a bit of stack height to them with out being squishy, but I can still feel the ground! For me, the size tool was accurate, no need to size up like the company recommends. My left foot is 25cm long and 9.4 wide, my right is 24.8cm long and 9.5cm wide and these shoes are perfection! I have medium to medium high volume feet and my feet do not feel squished in any way shape or form in these and I think they could easily accommodate a foot that is 10cm for those pizza shaped feet out there! If you have been barefoot for a while already, you will have an easier transition into these than someone just starting to get away from traditional shoes. If you are coming from traditional shoes, be patient with it! I had went to barefoot style and then tried going back to traditional footwear and wound up with capsulitis in the 2nd metatarsal in the ball of my foot. The podiatrist and PT were little help for me. It took learning on my own about what I could do and it took a long time but I am finally able to wear shoes with out metatarsal support again! It does still flare up if I wear shoes that are a bit tight so I try to avoid that. These shoes are perfect for my needs. I originally bought them just for walking but they have become my main shoes. Having to invest in the socks on top of the shoes is what had me going back and forth but it was definitely worth it! I also had to use the return process because I wasn't sure if I still had to size up or not and it was super easy! I chose the option that I dropped them off at a UPS store and they sent me the replacement! I want to say it was maybe 3 or 4 days and I had my replacement pair! It was so easy and so fast. No pair of shoes will fix problems with your feet, you still have to do the things but these shoes are definitely a great tool and I will likely stick with them long term. It's so hard to find a pair that check all the boxes and are wide enough for my feet and these fit the bill as long as your foot shape matches the shoe.

Very Comfortable, Dry Conditions Only
I have had barefoot shoes before, but never a "toe shoe_ and was excited to try these. I'm a pretty solid 8.5 with short toes. The 41 fits great, though my pinky toe slips out once in a while when on an incline. Pros: Very comfortable. Super easy to get on. Thick soles feel great on the trail. Not slippery. Socks fit great, too!
Cons: I expected these rugged trail shoes to be at least water resistant. Just walking across a mossy trail my feet were soaked. I live in Western Washington, so damp trails are the norm. And I'm disappointed at how the toe compartments chewed up the socks after just one wear.

Best walking/sprinting shoe I've ever owned.
Caveat for the 4 stars: Please make the tread more hearty! and the pull on tab on the back. I walk in my Strand ATR's (mostly on fine gravel trails and grass) anywhere from 1/2 hr. to 2 hours a day and sprint in them 3-4 x a week. These are my go-tos. I am currently on my 3rd pair in this style because I am finding the tread wears out for me quite quickly and when it gets down to a certain point my heels start hurting. Also I have had the pull-on tab on the back break off on my first 2 pairs within 1-2 months. It seems the stitching might not be so secure or else maybe I'm just too rough on my gear. None the less, I LOVE LOVE LOVE this style the best for what I am doing and my feet are so happy. I get so many people stopping me asking about them so they've also become a conversation piece. Thank you and please consider a heartier tread and tabs! Also, I'm a true 7.5 but always wear 8 in Peluva. Some people I know have to size up one whole size because of longer toes and such but if you have short, stumpy toes like me, I find a half size up is perfect.
