Beautiful but really loose
I was incredibly excited for these shoes because of how sleek and modern they looked compared to all the Vibram Five Fingers shoes I have. I am no stranger to toe shoes and in fact love them. I have been looking for other brands that make toe shoes for a while now when I came across Peluva. But this specific Carrie ST model was let down. Since the top is laceless I was expecting them to be tight fitting and stretchy. But instead they are incredibly loose and stretchy. I can comfortably fit 4 of my fingers in the shoe along with my foot. So needless to say my foot moves around a lot when trying to walk in them. The shoes fit length wise so I cannot size down. I honestly don't know if these shoes would fit anyone who doesn't have swollen feet or very tall and wide feet. I should also note that my husband tried the men's Napa Dress Trainer (which is sadly not available in women's sizes) and didn't have this issue because those shoes have laces and can be manually adjusted.
I would give 5 stars for the sleek and modern color block aesthetics of these shoes but I have to give 1 star for the fact that they are too loose and my feet move up and down with every step. Overall 3 stars.
Peluva if you can modify this design in future releases to be tighter and still a stretchy slip on, I would love to give them another shot. Also I would absolutely love to see these shoes in a sage green or mint green colorway!
I bought these for my son who follows some YouTuber who wears these. My son doesn't have long, skinny toes. His toes don't reach the end of the "designated toe section", so they don't fit. The toe length is the same for everyone, so this shoe doesn't work for us.
My slightly feral 14 yr old son loves them. We shall see if they hold up well to the abuse he will inevitably put them through before giving a solid review. We live on a farm, and my son is VERY active outdoors. If the shoes make it 6 months I'll be impressed. He put them on as soon as he unwrapped them Christmas morning and has worn them every time he goes out side since, which is weird for him, he usually runs around barefoot unless its icy out, or make him put shoes one.
So this is my first time using barefoot shoes of any kind. I saw them advertised by someone I follow on Instagram and decided to give them a whirl. I bought a half a size larger than my normal size (I'm a women's 8, so I got 8.5), and I do recommend definitely sizing up. I think I should've gone a full size up because my toes fit all the way to the edge of the shoes, and it's been causing me pain and discomfort over just a couple hours of wearing them. So that's a downer. The pain goes away as soon as i remove the shoes. Next, I do have plantar fascitis, so I wondered if these shoes might be good for that...nope. I still get really unbearable heel pain after a few hours in addition to the toe pain. Now as for the whole "natural feet shape with the toes", honestly I don't think it's as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. Unless you have incredibly strong toes, you can't move your toes. My feet are still in a "foot coffin" lol. I will say, I do have better balance when I'm doing calf stretches (standing on my "tippy toes"). But other than that, I haven't been impressed with wear. Could be because I got a shoe size too small...but these are too expensive for me to buy another pair in the right size, especially since I still get heel pain. I will just have to stick with my orthopedic shoes. Worth a try I guess 🤷♀️
I live overseas and have not yet received my new shoes from my shipping company. I will know in a month how I like your Shiraz
I can tell you I have purchased 5 pair of Vibrams five fingers within the last ten years. I have never been quite happy with their lack of padding and narrow sole.
If your shoes are as I am anticipating, I will stop buying vibram and you will have a new, life-long customer.
Great customer service but sizing was not accurate. Nearly little difference between sizes 10-11 which made me have to request exchange. Also tie enclosure is sloppy. Would also say that toe box is too wide for those with slimmer foot.
I loved the way this felt, if they had only fit... I wear a 49 in Vibram... But apparently the 14 here are 48.5. And they were just a touch to small 😩 I am going they make extended sizing.
The stitching inside the toes rub on my toes, and it makes them very uncomfortable to do lunges in them. They also look very chunky on my feet compared to the Vibram 5 finger toe shoes that I'm use to wearing. I do still have high hopes for them since I'm a Primal Coach and I'd like to be happy to promote them. I just don't know if I got a weird pair or if they need some improvement.
My pinky toe barely makes it into its chamber, but my big toe is fully hitting the wall. The toe area is shaped for people with a relatively flat foor front, not as curved as most minimalist shoes. This makes my pinky toe feel like it's constantly slipping out while my big toe feels cramped. Need multiple styles for different toe shapes...
They have a lot to offer to the structure of the foot. In fact they have relieved pain for sure so they do recommend them. However, the stitching in the toes is uncomfortable and I find them hard to wear for more than an hour or so at a time. Hoping they break in but for foot function they are fantastic.
I’ve been wearing minimalist footwear for many years now. I was very excited to finally see alternative “toe” shoe. Ordered a pair immediately.
For myself, the fit just wasn’t there. The toes are too short. The sole cups the bottom of the foot, which made my foot feel crowded. I can see the appeal of the thicker sole but to me it felt not only thick, but stiff.
I felt like style was the number one priority, with fit and functionality being second. I’ve seen a lot of minimalist shoes end up this way. Almost like they reverse engineered an athletic shoe that instead of starting with a foot and working out.
Fit and finish on the shoe seemed to excellent. So three stars for a quality shoe.
If they make a second generation of these, I’ll try them again. But for now, they miss the mark.
I'm a long-time wearer of minimalist shoes. I was very interested in these because, quite simply, they are the only alternative "toe" shoe I've seen in a while.
For myself, the toes seemed short. As soon as I slid my foot in, I felt pressure on the inside of the big toe. I also could feel the sole of the shoe wrapping up around my foot. I know this is a styling element, but for myself, the overall effect was the feeling of confinement.
The overall quality of the shoe seemed quite good.
Because the return policy is so strict, I wasn't able to do anything in the shoes besides walk a bit on carpet, so I have no idea if they would have "broken in". I would have given them 30 days if the return policy was a bit more forgiving. I might have also tried a half size larger, just to be sure, but I feel it was the shape of the shoe that was the issue, not the size.
My overall impression is that style came first. It felt like they started with a normal athletic shoe and added toes, instead of starting with a foot and building from there. Just my opinion.
Three stars for what appears to be a decently constructed shoe. Wish it fit my foot better. I'd certainly try a second or third generation and see how these evolve with time. Also, a solid black option would be nice.
My wife has not really had the chance to get used to them. We are big followers regarding diet. Hope she gets into them, I thought you send one pair of socks to get used to them but no big deal.
