Excellent shoe!
This is my first pair of five toe minimalist shoes. I have other minimalist shoes, but nothing compares to these shoes! My gait is much more natural and I have much less hip pain. I have a dysfunctional SI joint and I have zero pain when I wear these shoes. They are the best investment I have ever made!
That’s amazing to hear, Cecelia! We’re so glad your Strand ATRs are helping improve your gait and reduce hip pain. Thanks for trusting us with your first pair of five-toe minimalist shoes. Sounds like you made the perfect choice!
I have always been a big fan of toe shoes since my first vibrams almost 20 years ago now. But being limited to only vibrams, having found these was amazing. My new favorite shoes and I already want more. Highly recommended from me.
Ordered the Strand ATR's last week after having seen Peluva ads and the like popping up on all of my social media pages. I've been wearing another brand of toe shoes for almost 20 years, so I'm more than familiar with this style of shoes. I literally wear toe shoes every day unless it's really cold or snowing outside and I have to put on my Ugg boots to stay warm.
I wore these in my house for an evening before putting them on for a day of my usual work and running around and really like them. I am most pleased with the style of the bottom of the shoe, as it has a larger inside base than the other brand. It gives my heel a much better feel inside the shoe, and it feels like I have a bit more space across the front width of the shoe for the the balls of my feet too. I also like the additional padding, as I have scar tissue on my plantar fascia and cysts on my metatarsals from a foot injury years ago. These have been much more comfortable, as most of my day is spent walking on a tile over concrete floor. Really glad I took a chance and bought these! I'll probably get another pair sometime soon.
Guess that means this is a 10 start review. Ya so...not been wearing anything else but my peluva shoes out and about. Now that I've been in them a couple of weeks, really like the sole! Just enough for gravely surfaces. Funny how much attention they attract! And well, when these do wear out, I know where to go! Also...nothing that the "Bought For" only allows for one selection. I bought mine pairs for multiple reasons.
Im in love with these Peluva’s; first few days the foot has to get used to the shoe and the shoe has to get used to fhe foot (this is about getting them on with all your toes in the right spots. Once they’re ON they are amazing!! I use both batefoot and with Peluva socks; I think I like barefoot more but im still up in the air deciding. Ibe already bought a 2nd pair.

I am an avid trail runner and spend as much time outdoors and in nature as I can. I have worn vibram 5 toe shoes for a few years and really I wish I found the Peluva's sooner! A perfect amount of cushion in the mid and outsole all while still being able to feel and have play with the ground. Gives an all day level of comfort while still not sacrificing the feel and mobility of being barefoot. These are good for anyone looking to strengthen their feet and connect in a way with the ground that they may not have before.
Also, I used the foot scanner to find my size and went a half size up from what I would typically wear and they fit perfect.
These are my new golf shoes. I've been wearing peluvas for cross training and decided to try them on the range. Now I'm walking 9 holes in them and I'm enjoying the experience.
* love the bolo like laces- would be great if the other styles came with this option
* suggest wearing socks
This is my third pair of Peluvas and these may be my favorites. First two pairs were strands but when they offered a more hiking focused shoe I was all over it. Normally I'm not a fan of the Bolo laces (or whatever they're called) but these work just fine. And they even have a neat clip on the pull tab that hooks on your laces to keep it from bouncing around, or having to be tucked and tied off somewhere.
Thanks for the great review, Nathan! We're happy to hear the Strand ATRs are a standout in your Peluva collection. It's awesome that the added details are working well for you!

How I found Peluva
This one is a little long for a review but I hope it helps people out if you may be a little skeptical about This brand or even this style of shoe.
So about 15 years ago I had a really bad foot injury that took almost a year to heal up. About 6 months later after I healed up I was finally able to walk around no problem on my foot with no issues. Then roughly five years after that my foot and ankle would start to cramp up so bad every night when I went to sleep that when I woke up in the morning it would be painful to put on my socks and then I would have to stretch my feet out for a good ten to fifteen minutes just to be able to put my boots on to go to work but even then walking around at work my feet still ached for most of the day. I had no clue what was going on with my feet so I started doing my own research because I didn’t want to pay all kinds of money on custom molded soles or inserts for my feet that I felt would only mask the problem which I just want to say is my own opinion. So with all the research I was doing brought me to another brand of toe shoes because Peluva was not around yet. And I will tell you they helped me out a lot. Within a month or two of time wearing them my feet stopped hurting because I was stretching and strengthening them with every step I took.
Fast forward to now. The one thing I hated the most about the other brand of shoe is they are not designed to be on pavement and concrete but more for training and trails so your heel and feet after awhile start to really ache unless you’re on more natural ground.
Let’s fast forward to present time.
One day I was scrolling through Facebook and Peluva popped up I watched the add didn’t think much about it kept on scrolling and then on another add I saw Mark say that they were true Zero drop but with a thick foam midsole which then caught my attention because I could walk more comfortably on both pavement and concrete.
So then I started doing more research on Peluva and watched more of Marks adds about Peluva on YouTube and how he was talking about his research on feet and mobility and was talking about a lot of the research I remember looking up plus a lot more and the design and description of his shoes and why. I was then sold on them and bought a pare of the green Strand ATR and I’m glad I did. I wear them everywhere they are so comfortable really flexible and honestly super lightweight.
I read their reviews and decided not to go a half size larger but to go with my true size 12. Even with wearing thicker Marano wool toe socks they fit perfectly and are not to snug but perfect. I have not yet had a chance to take them hiking yet on some of Maine’s mountainous trails yet but I’m sure they will hold up. I will let you know.
Thanks so much for sharing your journey, Andrew. We're honored Peluvas are part of your recovery and helping you stay pain-free on hard surfaces. It means a lot that you took the time to share your experience. We look forward to hearing how they perform on the trails!
Been wearing these for a week, lots of walking and hiking. I normally wear a size 13 running shoe. I sized up to a fourteen and they fit perfectly. When I first got them I thought they looked a little strange , however now that I have gotten used to them I think they look fine. They feel great on my feet. Very comfortable and I can feel my feet getting stronger day by day.
Thanks for the great feedback, Joseph! We're glad the size 14 worked out and that you're already feeling the benefits. It's amazing how quickly comfort and foot strength can improve. Enjoy the journey!

Extraordinary
10/10 recommend! Perfect amount of cushion for optimal comfort without compromising control. I’m a 10/10.5 and should have gotten an 11.
Thanks, Brett! We're glad you're loving the comfort and control. Sizing up to 11 sounds like a great call. Feel free to reach out to support@peluva.com if you'd like help with an exchange.
